  2. To work with the CPWF management in research priority setting.
  3. To ensure the implementation of a significant portion of the research agenda (if not all) through a competitive research grant program or commissioned research, with an independent review process.
  4. To develop synthesis of project results including: (a) development of methodology for the thematic areas early on in the process; (b) interaction and coordination across thematic areas with the other groups; and (c) synthesis of the results within the thematic area through commissioned research, and overview or synthesis papers.
  5. To make available relevant experiences and expertise, in accordance with the normal institutional procedures, as well as results arising from the Program itself. This includes the custodianship of existing data sets and other data generated during the course of the Program as provided for in the Joint Venture Agreement.

  7. To have interface with Generation Challenge Program with respect to breeding of drought, salt, and submergence tolerant plants. The Generation Challenge Program will deal with identification of genes and pre-breeding (upstream); while the CPWF will deal with downstream part, from pre-breeding to field testing.
